JUDGING for the 2016 Daily Echo and Castle Cameras Air Festival Photographic competition has taken place.

The brief for the competition was Aviation for the Adult entries and the spirit and atmosphere of the festival for the Junior entries.

Today we are printing the top five entries for the adult competition and the top three for the 16-and-under category.

The top adult photographer will win £300 worth of Castle Cameras vouchers and in the junior category the winner will receive £100 in Castle Cameras Vouchers.

Racheal Tattum, partner at Castle Cameras, said the quality of entries had impressed the judges.

“The general standard was very high. It was very difficult to pick a winner, as always,” she said.

“There was a lovely quality of picture.”

The shortlisted pictures included many taken on phones as well as on stand-alone cameras, she added.

She said photography had been harder this year because of the wet and cloudy weather that disrupted the show. But she said the shortlisted entrants found their individual ways to show the excitement of the festival.

“They captured the essence of the air show and what it’s about,” she said.

“We do see the same views again, so it’s always nice to see how people perceive it.”

The winners will be announced on Tuesday, so make sure you don't miss it.
