The RAF Typhoon ripped through the evening air for its first ever dusk display at the Bournemouth Air Festival.

Following its first appearance this afternoon, the awe-inspiring aircraft signalled the start of its Night Air performance by roaring across the Bournemouth coast.

Despite it being a blustery evening, hundreds of people gathered to watch the impressive Eurofighter, piloted by Flt Lt Mark Long, as it rocketed through the sky.

As it swooped and soared with ear-splitting sound, its afterburners glowed in the dusky skies, creating a stunning spectacle.

As the Typhoon shot off back to base, Otto Helicopter cruised into the view of spectators and shot out sparks of fireworks as it pirouetted in the sky.

Accompanying the agile aircraft were the Fireflies Aerobatic Display Team. Performing for the second night running, they also released fireworks into the air as they flew in synchronisation.

The last display of the night saw the return of the Aerosparx team. To a peaceful backdrop of music, the planes glided through the inky sky, flashing their rainbow colours while streaming yet more fireworks from their wings.

The Night Air displays return for a final time tomorrow at around 8.20pm.
