THE team behind Bournemouth's award-winning festivals is calling for volunteers to join them.

Organisers of the internationally-renowned Wheels and Air festivals are looking for friendly volunteers known as festival makers for the 2016 season.

The deadline for applications is Thursday, April 14.

Good local knowledge and customer service skills are prerequisites of the roles.

Now in its third year, the successful festival maker scheme aims to sign-up and train approachable people who can act as a point of contact for members of the public.

Duties include providing directions, handing out maps and helping with any other general enquiries during the Wheels Festival from June 3-5 and the Air Festival on August 18-21.

Organisers need a good team of players aged 18 or over, with strong communication and interpersonal skills who can be flexible and are willing to take on different tasks.

Successful applicants will receive training specific to the festivals, as well as information on Bournemouth as a holiday destination, and customer service training.

Emily Weaver, who is responsible for coordinating festival maker recruitment, said: “This is the perfect opportunity for anyone who’s passionate about Bournemouth and our award-winning festivals. Our festival makers are an invaluable addition to the team – members of the public really warm to them and they have a great time in the process.”

Anyone interested in becoming a festival maker should visit bournemouth.co.uk/festivalmakers or email festival.makers@bournemouth.gov.uk by Thursday.

Interviews are scheduled to take place on April 28 and 30.
