THE organisers of Bournemouth Air Festival are looking for a community football team to take part in a beach soccer tournament at this year's events.

As part of the Royal Navy and armed forces' engagement with festival goers and members of the public, a special beach football event has been organised to take place on Thursday, August 20.

Teams must be affiliated with a Dorset-based amateur football club or professional body such as a local business or public sector organisation, featuring seven players including a goalkeeper, and must be available to play between 11am to 2pm on the day.

Jon Weaver, director of Bournemouth Air Festival, said: "The military plays a big part in the success of the Air Festival and the tournament is a way for them to increase engagement opportunities with the public.

The seven-a-side competition will be held on Bournemouth seafront and will see teams from the Royal Navy, Royal Marines, British Army and Royal Air Force battle for a newly created trophy.

Now, organisers are seeking a sixth team and are looking to local squads and amateur football clubs to complete the line-up.

Applications are open until Sunday, August 9 and the winning team will be drawn at random the following day.
