BOURNEMOUTH Chamber of Trade and Commerce (BCTC) is encouraging the town’s businesses to let their imagination take flight by taking part in a competition to decorate their windows and shop fronts for Bournemouth Air Festival.

The festival, which takes place from August 20–23, is one of the region’s biggest events, attracting more than 1.2million people in 2014 and generating in excess of £25 million for the town.

BCTC Past President, Mandy Payne of Spotcheckers, who is coordinating the competition, said: "The Window Display Competition is a great way for local businesses to really enter into the spirit of the Bournemouth Air Festival. With so many visitors, it’s a fantastic opportunity to contribute to, and benefit from, the ‘feel good’ atmosphere and real excitement generated by the festival."

Businesses taking part in the competition need to have their window displays and decorations in place by August 12.

The public will then start voting by texting for their favourite.

There will also be a separate judge’s choice too, for which judging will take place from August18–23.

Winners for both will be announced on the August 24 and awards and cash prizes will be given at a presentation at the BCTC BH Banter event on September 7.
