FOR fans of upside down, inside-out, loop-the-loop aerobatics, The Blades are the best in the business.

All of the pilots are former Red Arrows and they fly both the Extra 300 LP plane and the latest 330 SC version.

A relatively new team, having formed less than a decade ago, they have rapidly become a big hit on the circuit, not least at Bournemouth.

The team's display include gyroscopic tumbles, close formation manoeuvres and opposition passes.

The planes can turn harder and faster than anyone else and The Blades lay claim to being the world's only aerobatic airline, by virtue of the Extras being able to be booked out for passenger flights.

The display pilots are Myles Garland, Chris Carder, Andy Offer, Andy Evans, Ian Smith and Mark Cutmore.

They are accompanied by three corporate display pilots and between them the nine have OBEs, a Distinguished Flying Cross and a 'Mentioned in Dispatches'.

Two of them commanded RAF Harrier Squadrons in Iraq and Afghanistan and one led the Red Arrows. Several were Harrier pilots and Jaguar pilots and all were RAF instructors.

The planes are certified to +/- 10 times the force of gravity.
