FAMILY support charity Home-Start East Dorset has been awarded £200,000 of lottery cash.
It said the money would help it support hundreds more children.
The charity also added that the cash “could not have come at a better time”.
Manager Wendy Staples said: “Securing a lottery grant in the current financial climate is fantastic news.
“This funding will have a major impact on Home-Start’s ability to help hundreds of children over the next five years.
“Home-Start South East Dorset plays an important role in helping families, many of which are disadvantaged and living in areas of high deprivation.”
Jenny Way, chairman of Home-Start South East Dorset, added: “We are thrilled and delighted that the Big Lottery has chosen to support our work with families.
“We have been running for 18 years and our trained volunteers, staff and trustees are recognised by our funders and in our community, as an excellent provider of practical help and support to families facing difficulties in their lives.”
