Top Gear challenge filmed in Dorset set for broadcast

Reporter Alex Winter chats to Jeremy Clarkson
TOP Gear fans will get to see an challenge filmed in Dorset on TV this Sunday.
As reported by the Daily Echo at the time, Jeremy Clarkson and Richard Hammond blew up a car driving the wrong way down the Upton bypass in October.
The two visited a number of locations in the area, including One Stop in Barrack Road, Christchurch, where they picked up a picnic lunch, and Club Grand Bingo in Poole Road, Westbourne.
The pair made a brief stop in the Milburn Road Car Park to eat lunch, where they told the Daily Echo how much they were enjoying their visit.
Hammond said: “It’s a lovely day, and not raining, which is very nice.”
Clarkson, who lives in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, was unable to explain the mysterious absence of colleague James May.
“He’s dead,” he said when questioned. “No, I’m joking. We sent him out for lunch hours ago. I don’t know where he is.”
The two also joked that May was unhappy about coming to the south coast for filming.
“His exact words were that he hates the south coast, and he hates everyone who lives there,” said Clarkson.
Hammond added: “It’s a personal thing. He hates all of these people individually.”
But the two said they disagreed with May’s alleged views.
“Everyone we’ve met has been really nice and friendly,” Hammond said.
The pair were driving a modified Fiat Multipla, pictured, which featured a huge over-sized bumper at the front, and a litter tray with a toy cat in on the roof.
Later, the cat was replaced with a small wooden cross.
Top Gear fan John Everingham, who lives in The Grange Care Home in Poole, was overwhelmed to meet Clarkson.
“I can’t believe it – it’s a dream come true,” he said.
“It’s something to cross off the bucket list. He was exactly like he is on TV.”
Simon Bartlam, who owns the Westbourne bingo hall, said: “Jeremy got very into the game.
“We’ve had lots of people outside waiting to see them, and they were very nice.”
After filming was over, Jeremy Clarkson tweeted:
Just had one of the loveliest Top Gear filming days ever. I'm feeling all warm fuzzy about what we've done.

The next day he tweeted: "People of Bournemouth, for what we are about to do, forgive us." before setting off to the Upton bypass.
The episode is scheduled for broadcast at 8pm on Sunday, BBC2.

I enjoy watching both programmes, so I do feel that I am allowed an opinion thanks. Just because I watch TG doesn't mean that I'm common, it means I like cars and fun challenges. I don't watch 5thG for a "classier" aspect, I watch because I like cars, and the team reviews.
If you continue to read the comments throughout the day on this page, I am sure that you will see a few of the "Clarkson for PM" comments appearing. It's a regular comment that appears on any websites relating to Clarkson, so I thought I'd start the ball rolling. It's called a joke Mr James - I am sorry for you that you seemed to take it so seriously.
Oh, and could you please spell my name correctly. Thanks for that.

That spineless buffoon, ye gods !
The moment he is challenged he backs down. There's an awful lot of difference between spouting nonsense to the gullible, and having the principle to stand by it afterwards.
Still, I'm sure he provides some sort of sevice, if only to over excite the assorted collection of 'Trevors and Colins' who still live at home with their mums and wish they could be jolly naughty as well.

Blimey you would never even get through PM's Question Time. Neither would stand by a word they said, even if it was five minutes before.
Mind you it could provide the odd laugh if Boris did his comedy trip and the motor boat starting up impression when the cameras are around.
I would add the comedy caper of the mobile phone going off in the House, but he was pulled up by the whips about that many years ago when he was an MP.

And to those who complain about top gear not being a real world motoring programme well that's because its not. It's light entertainment based around motor vehicles, in the same way Classic Car Rescue on Channel 5 is a light entertainment programme based around car restoration, its not supposed to be some sort of factual based consumer programme.
They've obviously got the format right because it does very well all over the world with other countries bringing out their own versions and then theirs all the merchandise. Meanwhile the more traditional style car review show of 5th Gear was dropped by channel 5 and is now only available on subscription television.

Clarkson for PM - definitely. But only if he leads Bournemouth Borough Council for a while on his way up.
That would sort out the local curtain twitchers who live at home at the taxpayer's expense all day wishing they could have a life like the rest of us.

One funeral procession looking very confused and having to carry on their journey to the next slip road, making them have to do an extra 2 mile journey which was TOTALLY unacceptable!!
And to think we have to pay for that SH!TE which is basically just overindulged big boys playing with their toys from our licence fees!!!!!

It actually wasn't funny yesterday when I saw a funeral car and several followers being diverted away from the exit beside Upton Cemetery - their intended destination - and all because that load of j3rks - with help from the Dorset Police I might add (!) had blocked off the slip road in order to blow up a car halfway along it!!!
