Dorset woman killed after car plunges off cliff

An investigation has been launched after a Dorset woman died when her car went over the cliff on the Isle of Wight.

The woman, who was in her late forties, was alone in the vehicle when it plunged down the cliff on the Isle of Wight last night.

Police were called to an area west of Compton Chine Farm, Military Road in Brook around 6.40pm.

Roads were closed to allow officers to conduct a thorough investigation of the scene and enquiries into the exact circumstances of the incident.

The woman has not been named but comes from Dorset, said Hampshire Police.

A spokesman said that at this time, they do not believe anyone else to be involved in the incident.

Officers have appealed for anyone with any information should contact Newport CID on 101, or the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.

No photos, probably because the Echo can't afford to cross to the Isle of Wight? No Traffic holdup either?
What a difference from yesterday.

From the information given, this is possibly being investigated as a suicide, unlike yesterday's tragic accident.
Why would there be traffic holdups or photos if the wreckage is at the bottom of a cliff on the Isle of Wight?

This is the second car to go over a cliff on the Isle of Wight in 4 days. OMG . There wouldn't be any holdups.
