A TEENAGER was yesterday convicted of raping and sexually assaulting a frail 68-year-old man when he refused to give up his bank PIN numbers.

Stephen Thomas Jamieson, 19, was found guilty by a jury of nine women and three men at Bournemouth Crown Court of attacking the pensioner in his bedroom in a shared house in the Charminster area on January 25 this year.

Jamieson, of Dale Valley Road, Poole, formerly of the YMCA in Westover Road, Bournemouth, had previously admitted one charge of robbery.

Judge Samuel Wiggs adjourned the case for pre-sentence reports but warned Jamieson he faces a lengthy prison sentence.

In a video interview, the victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told police he had asked Jamieson and his friends to turn their loud music down before Jamieson forced his way into his room.

He said Jamieson punched him seven times as he robbed him of cash, a phone, computer and a television.

Jamieson then threatened to kill the traumatised pensioner, saying he had a knife, and forced him to perform a sex act – now classed as rape.

When the victim still refused to hand over his pin numbers, Jamieson threatened to rape him again.

The terrified victim eventually gave him false numbers.

Jamieson denied attacking the pensioner, telling police: “It is wrong, you respect your elders.

“I am not a violent person. How can someone say that? I don’t understand – I haven’t touched that old man.”

He claimed he had been forced to carry out the robbery by another man who had threatened him.

In interview he said: “I didn’t want to do it. Why would I want to rob an old man when I have just buried my grandad?”

Jamieson was remanded in custody and will be sentenced at Bournemouth Crown Court on November 2.
