POLICE want to trace two men who punched a shop assistant in the face and threw a glass at him.

The incident started when a man who had been drinking entered a Tesco store in Lymington High Street and was abusive to staff who refused to serve him.

He then left, slapping a female shop worker on the buttocks.

He came back with another man and both were abusive to another staff member before punching him in the face. A pint glass was thrown at the assistant and alcohol knocked off the shelf as the attackers ran off towards the Quay.

The incident happened on Wednesday September 26 at 9.40pm. Police want to identify two men seen on CCTV footage.

The first is white, aged 28-35, with a skinhead and a tanned complexion. He is stocky, 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins, clean shaven with a scar from the right of his nose to just above his mouth. He has acne scars around his face and nose. He spoke with a Birmingham accent.

The second suspect is dark skinned, of chunky build and 5ft 9ins to 5ft 11ins. He is in his mid-30s with short, dark cropped hair, brown eyes and facial stubble.

Anyone with information should ring PC Simon Wickson at Lymington on 101, or the Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.

Rubbish quality CCTV pics! Why don't retailers update their systems regularly? My sister works in a shop that is still using it's original video recordable CCTV which was installed over 20 years ago and the quality is appalling!

If retailers *really* want to protect their staff and members of the public, they should update their systems in line with technology :o/

Having recently been looking at a new CCTV system, it can be quite expensive to get decent camera and video storage.

In the past, a huge amount of CCTV footage has not been able to use as evidence because of the quality, so a lot of shop owners have thought of it as a useless expense.

It's only really in the past 3-4 years that systems have actually gotten to the point where they are affordable and useful at the same time.

One article has the bleeding heart Liberals crying because there are too many HiDerf cctvs in the UK, and in the same breath, some poor sod, working in a low paid job rather than scrounging off of the state kets assulted with a useless picture his only chance of justice.

Surely Tesco has in-store CCTV? If not why not? Seems like a shoplifters paradise if they haven't.

High Definition CCTV with a base hard drive to record images at night to give full quality surveillance pictures costs from £99.

The best set up I have seen in a friends shop with 8 cameras cost him £375 from the internet - E of the Bay to be exact.

I clicked on this story to see if I randomly knew the people and laughed out loud when I saw Tweedle Dumb and Tweedle Orange-Fatty Tango advert Guy.

Really? Do they want is to ID people off this? Is that footage not from the Council Pole Camera?
