Massage parlours are forced to close

THE landlord of two Pokesdown properties being used as massage parlours has asked the occupants to leave after being contacted by police.

News came at the September meeting of the Pokesdown Community Forum. The properties were not named.

Rob Saunders, from the forum committee, told the meeting the premises had become “a bit of a nuisance”, and that the landlord had given the occupants four weeks’ notice.

Sgt Steve Federico, head of the area’s community police, said: “We have spoken to the landlord and the landlord has decided to act in relation to his own properties.”

One resident hoped the occupants would not set up elsewhere.

“We don’t want them playing musical brothels,” he said.

Sgt Federico said he had asked his officers “to walk the streets” to help prevent that happening.
