TRADERS and residents in Westbourne were shocked to hear about the death.

The entrance to the stairs where the man was found injured is to the rear of Arrowedge Retail Chemists, close to Westbourne Medical Centre.

Some traders saw the man being taken away by paramedics but were unaware a murder inquiry was underway.

Sue Steventon and Geraldine Nullmeyer at the Party In Style shop saw two ambulances arrive on Saturday.

Sue, manager at the shop, said: “I thought it was odd to see two ambulances but did not know what happened.

“There have been a lot of police here and the officers in white suits.”

Geraldine, owner of the shop, added: “It’s shocking to hear of this happening in Westbourne.”

Tania Vickrage, 44, lives close to the flats where the man was found.

She said: “A police car pulled up alongside the car park and the cordon was put up.

“I’ve lived here a year and it’s very quiet.

“It’s lovely here and it’s such a shame that something like that has happened to a young person.”
