Accidents cause delays on the A338 Wessex Way and A31

DRIVERS faced rush hour delays on two of Dorset's busiest roads this morning.

Traffic built up on the northbound carriageway of the A338 Wessex Way following an incident at around 8.50am.

One vehicle spun to face the opposite direction after hitting the central reservation and the male driver was seen to get out of the vehicle.

On the westbound carriageway of the A31 three vehicles were involved in an accident between the Canford Bottom and Merley roundabouts.

Any chance you can print pictures of the people that designed Canford Bottom?

Who's counting the Canford Bottom accidents. I wonder how many till they admit the mistake?

I saw the aftermath of the A31 accident this morning and it was about 1 mile down the road from the Canford Bottom Roundabout, so can't really blame that one on the designers . . . looks like it was a rear end shunt in slow traffic

The accident on the A338 was actually on the southbound carriageway immediately after St Paul's roundabout. The queue heading South was very long. I was travelling north with no delays.

I went thru Canford Bottom roundabout for the first time the other day. Sheesh what idiot designed that? They must have been to India or somewhere like that to have that in mind. Scary isnt the word (two words were in mind but one of them is rude). I'll be going the other way to wherever I'm going next time.

Roads this morning getting into Bournemouth were pants. Roadworks, accidents and weather deterring people from walking or cycling. The transport system aint working. A start would be.... 1. A31 dual to dorchester. 2. Dual link between wessex and dorset ways. Anything less is sticking plaster.

I am glad that you will be avoiding the CB roundabout, as will many other drivers who seem to have a problem with the layout . . . makes it easier and quicker for the rest of us . . . as for idiots designing it . . c'mon are you serious. . . is suspect it was actually designed by a team of qualified people who surely spent months studying traffic flows, analysing computer models etc etc bla bla bla. I drive through CB twice a day, morning and evening rush hours, from many different directions and I have to say the whole junction for me is painless and quite efficient. Yes you get the odd last second lane changer and I have seen only one shunt, and yes I'm sure there have been others, and will be more, but the same thing happens every day at the Fleets bridge roundabout and probably at the Frizzel roundabout and countless other places around the area . . you just gotta get on with it . . no point living in fear . . .

I use the cb roundabout two or three times a day. The old layout was always quicker to negotiate, no gaps.! Many millions later were blinded by red white and green.....
