Thieves steal cigarettes during raid on Bournemouth store

RAIDERS stole cigarettes during a break-in at a Bournemouth Co-Op.

They struck at the Ringwood Road branch around 2.30am on Friday morning.

A worker at a nearby store said: “A window was broken.

“The staff were stood outside.

“They barricaded the entrance with breadbaskets, probably so the forensics could work.”

A spokesperson for The Co-operative Food said: “At around 2.30am, intruders entered the store, before stealing a quantity of cigarettes. “The store remained closed for police investigations until 2pm.

“We would like to apologise to customers for the inconvenience this may have caused.

“CCTV footage has been given to the police who are investigating.

“As with any incident such as this, we would appeal for anyone with information to come forward.”

A staff member at a nearby takeaway said: “A policewoman came round asking us for CCTV.”

You can call police on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
