Meet your local firefighters at Poole station open day
9:30am Saturday 22nd September 2012 in News
POOLE fire station throws its doors open to the public today.
Residents can meet their local firefighters during the station’s open day and see some of the methods used to save lives. Youngsters have the chance to take part in a fun fitness test using Dorset Fire and Rescue Service specialist equipment and families can sign up for free home fire safety tests.
Poole and Hamworthy District Commander Phil Allen said: “We are hoping for a really good turnout this year as we have so much going on at the station – it will be a really great weekend day out for all the family.
“This open day will be a great opportunity for residents to come and meet their local fire crew, learn how to protect their homes from fire and see what activities and incidents we get involved with.”
Representatives from Dorset Police South West Ambulance Service and the Urban Heaths partnership will also be on hand to answer residents’ questions.
The fire station, at Safety Drive, Poole, opens to the public from 10.30am until 4pm. Residents must use the park and ride car park and enter near the rear of the station via Upton Road.
