Van in embankment after tree plunge on A31

A VAN driver plunged through trees on the A31 in a crash yesterday morning.

The police said his injuries did not appear to be serious but the air ambulance was called after he complained of chest pains.

He came off the westbound carriageway of the A31 between the Merley roundabout and the Canford Bottom junction. The blue Renault panel van came to rest at the bottom of an embankment.

Police said the vehicle was registered to Slough.

Dorset Fire and Rescue’s heavy rescue team from Blandford cut the doors off the van and the driver was removed on a spinal board and taken to hospital by a normal ambulance.
