READ ALL ABOUT IT: Derek Landy signs copies of his new book in the Skullduggery Pleasant series, Kingdom of the Wicked
CHILDREN’S fantasy author Derek Landy met an army of young Skulduggery Pleasant fans during the Bournemouth book-signing of his latest work.
The Irish playwright, who has penned seven books in the cult Skulduggery Pleasant series, was at Waterstones, Castlepoint , on Saturday to promote his Kingdom of the Wicked novel.
This novel is the first of the last Skulduggery trilogy, a series that has proved immensely popular with young readers After the two-and-a-half hour signing, Derek told the Daily Echo “A writer enters into an agreement with a reader – they buy your book if they like it and from then on they are entrusting you not to let them down.
“So with the final three books, of which this is the first, there is a certain sense of responsibility not to give them what they want, but to give them what they need.
“No matter where I go the readers are always enthusiastic, welcoming and fun. Every time I’m on tour and doing a signing it’s like hooking up with a group of friends.”
