Eclectic mix of music to be showcased at the New Forest Festival

A UNIQUE celebration of diverse local talent will be showcased at this year’s New Forest Festival which looks set to be bigger and better than ever.

Now in its third year, the 2012 event has moved from its usual location at Minstead Study Centre to a larger venue at the campus of Brockenhurst College .

Festival spokesman John Pemberton said: “The New Forest Festival is unique in providing a music event which draws together performers and producers from the New Forest, contributing to the sense of community in the area whilst also promoting greener ways of living.”

This year there will be two stages, an open air main stage and a more intimate acoustic second stage with a bar which will run simultaneously throughout the day.

There will be an eclectic mix of music to suit all tastes ranging from reggae and punk rock, choral and folk music to swing bands, gypsy and jazz.

As well as music there will be exhibitions and workshops promoting the benefits of a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle as well as performing arts, film, storytelling, arts and crafts and food.

Mr Pemberton added: “The eventual aim is that it will embrace many other cultural and arts festivals happening in the New Forest each year, put on by a variety of otherwise unrelated organisations each with their own programme of events.”

The festival will run from 11am to 11pm on September 22.
