Vintage bikes roar in for Poole RNLI run

MORE than 20 machines ridden by members of the South Dorset Vintage Motor Cycle Club roared into Poole as part of their annual RNLI run.

Heads turned when the convoy came across the Twin Sails Bridge to the lifeboat station in West Street, where the visitors chatted to the crew, looked around the lifeboats and had a cup of tea. The group also presented Poole and district RNLI fundraising chairman Graham John with a cheque for £150.

The motorcyclists’ “pilgrimage” had started in Dorchester.

After Poole, they travelled to Swanage via the Sandbanks ferry, then to Weymouth lifeboat station before heading towards home.

Poole RNLI volunteer Anne-Marie Clark said: “It’s always a pleasure to meet up with the South Dorset Vintage Motor Cyclists.

“We really appreciate their continued support and look forward to welcoming them ‘full throttle’ to the lifeboat station again next year.”
