Reuben Warren jailed for eight years for raping woman in Ferndown on New Year's Day

A RAPIST who subjected his victim to “repeated violence” in a supermarket car park has been sentenced to eight years in prison.
A jury of six men and six women yesterday found 27-year-old Reuben Warren, of Surrey Road, Bournemouth, guilty of rape and sexual assault in the Tesco car park in Ferndown. He earlier pleaded guilty to assault causing actual bodily harm.
Warren swore under his breath and repeatedly shook his head following the verdict.
During the trial Bournemouth Crown Court was told that his victim, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was violently raped in the car park in the early hours of New Year’s Day.
Jurors were told that Warren, a 19-stone bodybuilder, and his victim had met at a local pub before he drove them both to Tesco in his van to get some cigarettes.
Prosecutor David Richards said that Warren wanted sex, which the woman thought was a joke. At that point he attacked her, he said, dragging her to the door of the van before forcing her inside, striking blows on her head and face.
Blood found on the van and Warren’s clothes matched the woman’s DNA.
In Warren’s defence, Isabelle Gillard said the sex had been consensual and he “lost self-control” afterwards when he realised he had cheated on his girlfriend – it was then that he slapped her, before apologising.
But the jury did not believe Warren’s account and, passing sentence, His Honour Judge John Harrow told him: “She got into your van and, in these circumstances, she was entitled to trust you.
“It may be that earlier there had been some banter and flirting between you that seemed to be fairly harmless and amicable.”
But he had “other designs upon her”, said the judge.
“You forced yourself upon her, using repeated violence towards her, causing her substantial injuries,” he added.
Warren was sentenced to eight years for one count of rape, two years for sexual assault and 12 months for assault causing actual bodily harm, to run concurrently.

Rape is not a lesser crime, it's a different crime.
That's not true. Rape is certainly a lesser crime since the person raped CAN eventually recover whereas you cannot recover from being murdered.
Nearly all jurisdictions in the world recognise this since there is a lesser sentence for rape in most of them.

wow! now dont get me wrong im not disputing that he done this but i find it crazy! he was nothing but a gentleman with me (even to the point he carried me up the stairs to my flat after i got out of the hospital on crutches) where did he go so wrong!!
Thats Reuben all over, ive known him a long time, and im absolutley sickened by this.. he always made himself out to be a good hard working fella who steered clear of trouble and violence and then he does this!

i have no doubt that was the plan but once i made it clear i wasnt interested then it never changed the way he was towards me. granted as soon as i moved out of ferndown i never saw or spoke to him again but as u said he always made out he was a decent upstanding member of the community!! how could the reality b so different!! its actually kinda scary!!
