WATER sports enthusiasts enjoying the sunshine off the Dorset coast got a special treat when a pod of dolphins put on a stunning show.

Nine dolphins spent 40 minutes darting underneath boats and jet skis and leaping from the water near Old Harry rocks on Sunday.

Luckily Nick Harford from Christchurch had his camera at the ready and managed to get this spectacular shot during the impromptu display, which started at around 2pm.

Nick, of Wickfield Avenue, said he and his family were enjoying an afternoon waterskiing from a powerboat when his daughter, 13-year-old Brooke, spotted the dolphins.

“My son was skiing behind the boat so we stopped as soon as we could and got him out of the water. He didn’t know why we had stopped so suddenly until he got back in the boat and saw what we were looking at.”

Aidan, 12, joined his dad, sister and mum, Deni to watch the dolphins along with the occupants of about six other boats and the riders of two or three jet skis.

“A lot of people stopped to watch and they were absolutely gobsmacked by what they saw” said Nick. “The children loved it and we were amazed to see something like this so close to home.”

Strange, isn't it. All the bad news is generated by people. All the good news, by nature.
Must be a message in there somewhere!!

These dolphins are full of it. Always showing off.

Look at us, jumping around, swimming everywhere.

Get a life dolphins. Do a day's work then tell me how you've got time to swim about showing off.
