A FORMER councillor’s wife appeared in the dock with him yesterday to face charges relating to their business activities.

Harriet Ramsden-Geary from Western Road, Poole, pleaded not guilty to two charges of aiding and abetting an undischarged bankrupt to manage a company between January 27, 2004 and February 4, 2009.

The 40-year-old also faced a charge of reusing a prohibited company name between February 4, 2009 and January 5, 2010 and making a material omission relating to a company’s affairs on July 6, 2009.

Her husband, Anthony Ramsden-Geary, a former Bournemouth councillor turned planning consultant, has denied six counts. Two relate to allegations of an undischarged bankrupt acting as a director, two offences involve the alleged reuse of a prohibited company name, one allegation relates to a bankrupt obtaining credit and the final charge alleges that he, as a bankrupt, made a material omission in a statement.

Mr Ramsden-Geary is a senior partner at Bournemouth-based Planning Solutions.

Mr Ramsden-Geary was a Bournemouth councillor between April 1999 and December 2003 and served as chairman of the licensing board and member of the planning board. His political career ended when he was declared bankrupt.

The Ramsden-Gearys will both stand trial at Bournemouth Crown court on December 3.
