RESIDENTS in a quiet Bournemouth cul-de-sac are furious after waking to find their cars vandalised.

Four out of seven households in Park Lane, Redhill discovered the damage on Friday morning.

They believe the person responsible may have been used a tile to make deep scratches on the paintwork.

Lesley Hector said four vehicles were damaged during the vandalism spree.

“My son’s girlfriend went to her car in the morning and every panel on her car had been damaged,” she said. “At first we just thought it was one car but then we discovered that the same thing had been done on a further three cars.”

The vehicles damaged were a Peugeot 206, a Vauxhall Astra, a Ford Escort and a Mitsubishi Warrior.

Anna Chardonnais, who also had her car damaged, added: “I don’t know what has driven someone to do that.

“It’s a scary thing, it’s just shocking.

“Somebody must have been really angry. It’s frightening because of the extent of the damage. Everybody is dumbstruck as to the reason.”

A spokesman for Dorset Police said they were called at 8.20am on Friday following a report that at least four cars had been scratched with an unknown object in Park Lane in Bournemouth.

A spokesman for Dorset Police said: “Officers attended to take details and the Safer Neighbourhood Team are going to be following it up by putting on extra patrols in the area and offering reassurance.” Anyone with information is asked to call them on 101 quoting incident number 94:17.
