Do it for Dorset: Keep English tradition alive and support Steps in Time
2:00pm Sunday 29th July 2012 in News By Julie Magee
Worthy cause: Steps in Time
Steps in Time has spent over 20 years teaching English traditions to children.
Our aim: To give rural children the chance to learn traditional English culture/skills and preserve and share them.
To increase membership and awareness while building skills that concentrate on dance; as well as traditional drama, games and making Dorset buttons.
Why the community needs this charity:
We perform at local events and provide a link between young and old passing on skills. Being rural it gives children a very rare productive outlet (increasing fitness, self esteem and confidence) that local schools have noticed.
It gives pride in the region when performing and brings together children from the local villages and schools.
Results and outcomes
We aim to keep alive the traditions of the region and to pass these on to new generations.
This allows us to exchange our customs with others.
