Bournemouth council's executive team complete

BOURNEMOUTH Borough Council’s executive team has been completed with the appointment of Bill Cotton as Executive Director for Environment and Economy.

Bill has worked for councils around the country.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining the executive team at Bournemouth.

“The council has an excellent track record of innovation and success to build on, including the establishment of the Bournemouth Development Company, supporting the trade to develop two Business Improvement Districts, a £1.4million recession fund and a forward-looking waste strategy.

“I am confident my regeneration experience and local knowledge will allow me to build on the town’s established environmental and economic regeneration programmes.

“I am particularly looking forward to leading improvements in high-profile areas such as Boscombe and the seafront.”

The role has been vacant since March, when the previous post-holder, Tony Williams, took up the job of chief executive.

He undertook a review of the senior management structure, which has seen the number of executive directors cut from four to three, as well as reductions in the number of service directors.

Subject to endorsement by full council, Bill will take up the position on September 3.

Well he seems to fit in, probably in more ways than we are supposed to know!
The constant recorded loop style repetition (as quoted) of the word 'regeneration' is a good start (not).
We have our own special local definition for this 'regeneration' word, don't look it up in a dictionary just go to Boscombe - it will become clear!
Actually the same applies to a lot of other words, but that is best left for another day.

Wasn't Bill Cotton's namesake a bandleader years ago. The Billy Cotton Bandshow (or as he himself called it the Silly Rotten Bandshow) comes to mind.

His theme tune was "Somebody stole my Gal" if memory serves me.

Any suggestions for a theme tune for our Mr Cotton?

It doesn't matter how much talent or experience Bill Cotton brings to the job, like everyone else at Bournemouth council he'll have to do as he's told and tow the line.
.
As we saw with the former chief accountant, Stephen Parker, if he dares to speak out of turn or have an opinion which has not met with Beasleys approval his life will be made a misery and he'll end up loosing his job.

Didn't Bill Cotton jnr join Meridian when it began in 1993? They promised the earth and as far as I remember their network shows nose dived and they brought back Houseparty and put Out of Town repeats on! Apologies for going off but actions really speak louder than words Mr.Cotton
