New restrictions for ‘rowdy’ bar in Poole

4:00pm Monday 23rd July 2012

A POOLE bar and restaurant that attracted a number of complaints from residents over noise and antisocial behaviour has had a number of restrictions imposed.

Bella Rosa in Canford Cliffs , which had a 24-hour premises licence, will only be allowed to sell alcohol from 10am to 11.30pm Sunday to Thursday and 10am to 12.30am Friday and Saturday.

Customers will not be allowed to take drinks on to the outside decking area after 10.30pm between Sunday and Thursday and after 11pm on Friday and Saturday. Any live or recorded music at the Haven Road bar is to be subject to a noise limiter.

From 11pm until closing time, a duty manager or doorman will have to oversee the front door to make sure noise is kept to a minimum.

Lewis Jeandren of LWS Bars Limited was removed as the designated premises supervisor because of his failure to control the bar and make sure the licensing conditions were observed. Among incidents reported to the police were customers wandering outside with drinks; shouting and screaming; urinating in gardens and, on one occasion, smashing the window of a nearby business.

The bar has been closed for the last couple of months, but Mr Jeandren has the right to appeal within 21 days of the meeting by Poole council’s licensing sub-committee.
