A LORRY driver was stabbed in the stomach by an attacker as his vehicle was parked in a lay-by.
The 35-year-old victim was on the B3092 at Walton Elm, near Marnhull, just after 10am yesterday. He got out of the vehicle to take a break. But as he returned to his lorry he was assaulted.
The lorry driver received a single stab wound to the stomach and is believed to have fallen unconscious for a short time.
He was taken to Dorset County Hospital, Dorchester, but his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.
The wound is believed to have been caused by a sharp or bladed object.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Stewart Dipple said: “This is an extremely serious assault and we are working hard to establish what the motive may have been and who may have committed such an attack.”
