SEVENTEEN people are getting ready to jump out of a plane at a great height for a little girl with leukaemia.

Family and friends of Charlotte Jackson, from Ferndown, will take the plunge in a flight from Old Sarum Airfield, at Salisbury, on Saturday, July 14.

The four-year-old is halfway through a 112-week chemotherapy schedule and has been in and out of hospital with infections, illnesses and even a broken arm.

Charlotte’s uncle, staff and parents from her school, Oakhurst First, in West Moors, and members of the family’s church have signed up for the CLIC Sargent skydive.

Charlotte’s mum Sarah Jackson set up Team Charlotte and has been writing a blog since the devastating Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia diagnosis last May.

Sarah said: “Her hair is growing back lovely now, to the point of needing a proper shampoo, to which she screamed the house down the first time. But it had been nine months since she had hair, and that’s a long time in Charlotte’s life at her age.

“I asked whilst we were in hospital on one occasion about the future and the ‘relapse’ question.

“Our consultant said it’s very rare to relapse at this stage of treatment now, but it’s a long road ahead before we have the all clear.”
