CALLS are being made for volunteers to help out at a Weymouth-based charity shop.

After 20 years of trading and a complete makeover, Life Charity shop is in need of people willing to help out.

Naomi Karali, manager of the George Street store, said all ages were encouraged to get involved.

She said: “Now we have had a fantastic refurbishment we really need more volunteers.

“We want all ages to get involved – it is great for people to be able to put on their CVs especially in the current economic climate.

“There may even be opportunities to work up to more managerial roles.

“The shop has been here for 20 years and is an important part of the town centre in Weymouth. Volunteering is an important way to help others by doing something positive.

“I started out as a volunteer and it is really worthwhile.”

Those willing to dedicate their time would be required to help out in a host of different ways.

The shop recently hosted a fundraiser to pay for the makeover.

On speaking of the refurbishment, she added: “It cost £1,300 and so far we have raised £500 of it.

“We would like to thank all of the local businesses who donated raffle prizes for our fundraising event.”

Businesses included Blondz, Aqua Fantastic, Sea Chef and The Sir William Henry.

Life charity has 10 shops around the UK and each relies on volunteers to staff, manage and co-ordinate the day-to-day running.

The charity exists to save lives and transform the futures of vulnerable pregnant women and young families.
