  • "We have been training for the 10k for weeks. People have sponsored us to do the 10k, not the 5k and I shall sure as hell do not think I will be letting myself, the people supporting me or Cancer Research down. The winds have died down and I walked the route yesterday in the howling winds. Yes I got sand in my shoes, but who cares, this is for a bigger cause! If people want to walk/jog/run the 10k regardless then just let them!"

Bournemouth Race for Life 10k event cancelled

THE 10k Race for Life event on Bournemouth seafront on Sunday afternoon has been cancelled due to the weather.

Organisers made the late decision after discovering sections of the 10k route along the promenade were covered in deep sand.

The 11am and 2.30pm 5k races will still take place and all 10k participants will have the option to take part in the 5k race instead.

They have also been given the option to run the Southampton Race 10k next month.

Organiser Rachel White said: "The course for the 10k section has been very badly affected overnight and today by the high winds and is covered in deep sand in many areas."
