I do understand that real boys were abused to make these images, however, I don't think jailing someone for a first offence is a good idea. Given that there is some evidence that paedophiles are different genetically, I think for a first offence of downloading (where there is no direct abuse), forced intensive therapy is appropriate.

The reason for this is so that other people who feel inclined to download images can seek out therapy for themselves before they commit an offence. With the current climate, those who are interested in such images are just going to stay quiet and may eventually move on to abuse. Mr Saunders was not very clever in hiding what he downloaded, but there will be people who use cryptographic techniques who are never likely to be caught.

There are other ways in which children are abused directly which seem to receive no punishment at all. Every time you see a fat kid, you should think 'abusive parent'. I would certainly like to see some kind of intervention in such cases.
There is "some evidence" that paedophiles are different genetically. This is by no means conclusive at all and therefore should be held void. Furthermore, the fact that there may be a genetic difference which makes them sexually attracted to children does not mean that there is a genetic difference which makes them download child **** and/or abuse children. There are many paedophiles who realize that they have a problem and have the willpower to restrain themselves.

And what does 'forced intensive therapy' instead of prison have to do with being an incentive for paedophiles to seek out treatment? Surely they should have the morals to seek out treatment under the current legislation?

And your comment about fat children is just ridiculous. If the child is eating too much and sneaks around the parents attempts to curb their food intake, and the parents physically deprive their children of food, this is also child abuse.
Its true some are born that way

I have read accounts of child sex offenders (in psychological literature) and it is actually true that some men are aware from an early age that they have a sexual orientation towards younger children, one man described his horror when he realized at the age of nine years old that he was sexually drawn to four year old boys it is very tragic.
    ________
However a lot of these cases are purely due to compulsive online sexual behaviour and sex addiction.

The men/perverts become corrupted due to getting bored with viewing 'normal' p o r n they actively seek out more and more extreme images its a slippery slope before they know it very dark behaviour becomes part of their arousal template and they literally cant control themselves.

    Internet p o r n is very dangerous.

Also it has to be said that there is a strong demonic influence at work in the world today.

Child sex abuse is now rampant and this is due to the change of our moral landscape- decline of judeo christian values, the rise of the occult etc

Mr Saunders may not have touched the children in his class but his presence and sick energy will have been harmful- children are innocent and open being around such a sick 'teacher' may have been negative and damaging on a soul level."

Poole teacher jailed for downloading child pornography

A TEACHER at a top independent school in Poole has been jailed for 20 weeks for downloading hundreds of indecent images of children.

Dad-of-two Brian Saunders, 49, was working at Buckholme Towers School, Ashley Cross, until his wife uncovered 221 indecent photos on his laptop in March.

Saunders, a former head teacher at another school, now admits it was a habit he had been indulging in for 10 years, Bournemouth Crown Court heard.

Saunders’ veneer of respectability included being chairman of the Poole Link Chernobyl Children’s Life Line, organising summer trips for youngsters from Belarus and being a guardian for two Japanese teenage boys.

Prosecutor Robert Pawson told the court how Saunders’ wife found files named ‘Boys in briefs’ and ‘Boy porn’ on his computer and turned him into the police.

Officers counted a total of 135 level 1 images, 60 level 2, three level 3 and 23 level 4 images – with level four being the most serious of these.

Titles included ‘Schoolboys’ sexual abuse’ ‘Boys tied up’ and ‘Nude Japanese boys’.

There were also six level 1 moving images.

Saunders, of New Road, in Northbourne, Bournemouth pleaded guilty to possessing indecent images.

Brian Sharman, mitigating, said his client put his behaviour down to feeling second best growing up.

Mr Sharman said: “This man is not bad.

“This man should not be simply consigned to Dorchester prison for punishment purposes.

“He is utterly remorseful.”

Jailing Saunders, Judge Roger Jarvis said his background working with children made his admissions all the more shocking. With the knowledge you have of the need to have regard for the welfare of children it is in this court’s view deeply surprising that someone like you should engage in this sort of activity,” he said. Judge Jarvis added: “Those who access these kinds of images have a cynical disregard for the young people involved.

“Their lives are ruined and you must know that when you take pause to think.”

Saunders has been disqualified from working with children for life and after leaving prison will go on the sex offenders’ register for seven years.
