ROTARY member Carole Russell has come up with a novel way of raising cash for Children in Need.

Parkstone member Carole has already started a Pudsey tapestry and hopes to complete the 80,000 stitches in time for the fund- raising event in November.

In the meantime she’s urging members of the public to sponsor a stitch and will be visiting various venues in the area to boost support for her fundraising. And she’s made a good start to her campaign – she’s already got Sir Terry Wogan lined up to add his own stitch when he visits Bournemouth in April as keynote speaker at the Rotary conference at the BIC.

Parkstone Junior Vice President Martyn Underhill said: “The public is being asked to donate money for each stitch Carole makes – if we got 10p per stitch we could make £8,000 for Children in Need. The tapestry will make appearances all over Bournemouth and Poole in the coming weeks, prior to the April conference when Sir Terry will give us a stitch.”
