A central defender or right-back, Bowles was signed by AFC Bournemouth from Dorchester Town in August, for a transfer fee understood to have been around £4,000.
Cherries sent Bowles straight back to Dorchester on a season-long loan.
But in November, the Football Association granted permission for Bowles to play Football Combination reserve matches for Cherries and he has since not featured for the Magpies.
He scored for Cherries’ reserves in their win at Torquay United last month but the 23-year-old has yet to make a first-team appearance for the Seward Stadium club.
Bowles was on Twitter on Thursday afternoon talking about the case.
“Don’t belive wat u read PPL,” he tweeted.
Later he wrote: “Stupid ***** tryin ruin my life.”
