POLICE hunting a man who robbed an elderly lady of her handbag in her home last week have released an image of the man responsible.

Detectives investigating the “awful” robbery in Bluebell Close, Highcliffe last Friday are asking people with information to urgently come forward after the incident in Myrtle Bryant’s home.

The man, who is believed to be aged between 18 and 20, walked into the 76-year-old’s home on Friday morning, taking her bag and leaving the pensioner with an arm injury.

Detective Constable Rich Saunders of Bournemouth CID, said: “Following further enquiries, I am now able to release an e-fit of the man responsible for this awful incident.

“The victim opened the door for the man, who then entered the house and grabbed hold of the bag, which was on her shoulder. In grabbing hold of the victim he has caused a cut to her arm.”

The robber is white, not very tall, of an average or slight build, with a clear complexion and aged between 18 and 20. He was wearing black clothing and a hoodie.

DC Saunders added: “Clearly, this was an extremely distressing robbery and the victim is understandably shocked and upset.

“Such an incident is very unusual for this area and I am appealing to anyone who recognises this man to contact me as soon as possible.

“Anyone with any information is urged to dial 101 in confidence. It may be that you know something that could help us bring this offender to justice.”

Detectives have conducted house-to-house enquiries in the area and have provided reassurance to surrounding residents.
