FORMER Cherries boss Harry Redknapp and Brighton manager Gus Poyet joined youngsters from Hamworthy Middle School as VIP guests at a Barclays House fundraising event.

Gus Poyet, the former Chelsea and Tottenham star, was snapped at the bank’s Poole headquarters along with the Premier League trophy.

Earlier, former Sandbanks resident and football legend Harry Redknapp attended the bash.

Harry, current manager of north London’s title-chasing Spurs side, will be hoping to be in touching distance of the trophy again come the end of season.

As sponsors of the Premier League Barclays often arrange a host of events around the trophy.

More than 400 members of staff welcomed the football stars at the fundraiser, in aid of local children’s hospice Julia’s House.

Staff at Barclays House raised more than £20,000 for the hospice last year.

Event organiser Luke Murdoch said: “This was a great opportunity for our colleagues and local school pupils to see the trophy and meet some football legends while raising money for such a good cause.

“We look forward to planning more events to help Julia’s House and other charities in the area.”

The Hamworthy pupils were invited to write poems on ‘What the Premier League means to me’. Three winners received signed Barclays Premiership memorabilia as well as meeting Gus Poyet.

Visitors from Poole football club also attended the event.
