MORE details have been revealed about AFC Bournemouth’s plans to develop 2.1 hectares of parkland next to their stadium.
Two drop-in events were held this week to explain the proposals and gain feedback.
The council is proposing to enter into a 125-year management agreement with the football club so two professional quality training pitches and two smaller all-weather pitches can be developed.
The deal would see AFC Bournemouth undertake all development works and operate and manage the facility, while long term the council would receive payment from the club, which it could invest in other parks and open spaces.
The training pitches would be available for one competitive public fixture per pitch per week and the public will be able to book the pitches through AFC Bournemouth.
Cllr Rod Cooper, cabinet member for housing and environment, said: “We are working closely with the football club on these proposals and if this facility was to be progressed we will want to ensure that the public are able to gain access to the site and make use of the pitches.”
Development could start next spring, subject to planning permission.
