VANDALS have struck at Poole Park’s crazy golf course, ripping up turf and destroying some of the obstacles.

They also smashed a window of the staff hut, trashed the inside and spilt petrol over the course’s last hole. Workers at the popular lakeside attraction, run by Crazy Courses, say they’re disheartened by the fourth break-in since the putting green was refurbished a year ago.

Manager Janet Gisbourne said: “They clamboured in and threw the golf clubs around.

“They never take anything much, this time it was a bucket of balls and an empty cash box.”

A wooden panel in the hut has been pulled out, golf mats have been torn off and a ball pipe is missing from one of the obstacles.

“It’s just been wrecked,” Mrs Gisbourne said. “This has been happening a lot over the last few months. Some obstacles have been bent overnight or just disappeared altogether.

“There seems no point to it and it just spoils things for the children, quite honestly. These people must either be drunk or have nothing better to do. Yes, we can keep putting it back together, but that is not the point. It’s disheartening and you get really fed up.”

The incident took place between 9pm on Sunday and 7am on Monday.

Mrs Gisbourne found a discarded bike at the course and thinks this means the offender was disturbed.

The hut clock was on the floor and had stopped at 1.30am, she said.

PC Simon Young, of Poole police, described the damage as ‘considerable’.
