A FEMINIST group failed in a bid to ban “overtly sexual” advertising at Bournemouth University.

BUst (Bournemouth University Students Together) Against Sexism put forward a motion but lost 80 votes to five.

Student Chloe Cook, 19, from Teignmouth in Devon, now living in Winton, proposed the motion after seeing posters for the Sex Ed Ball.

She wanted any advertising banned on campus that “could be construed as overtly sexual, objectifying or part of the sex industry”.

Chloe, a second year journalism student, told the Echo: “If men see women as sex objects they are not going to get as much as they can out of a relationship.”

The Students Union agreed to cover up the models on the posters and the ball was held last month at the Old Fire Station.
