ONE of the experts behind a report warning of the dangers of slashing UK fire budgets has assured: “There will be no cuts in Dorset.”
Dorset Fire Authority member David Milsted, who chaired the group that produced a dossier for communities secretary Eric Pickles, also poured scorn on the way some national media organisations reported the paper’s content.
Mr Milsted said: “Reductions in funding for the fire service present challenges to the fire and rescue service, which is what I said. But there are many other challenges as well.
“Clearly, anybody who reads the report will see it doesn’t say the sky is going to fall in and we’re all going to burn.
“There will be no cuts in Dorset. On the contrary, we are substantially increasing our amount of fire prevention work.”
