PRIMARY schools in Bournemouth are in the bottom third in the country, according to league tables published today.

The authority was ranked 104th out of 152 council areas when the number of children achieving the expected standard in both English and maths was calculated.

Poole's primary and middle schools were ranked 89th and those in the Dorset County Council area 70th.

The Department for Education has published the percentage of children achieving level 4 or more in English and maths at the age of 11.

Top performing schools in the area include St Mary's Catholic Combined in Poole, Stower Provost Community School in Gillingham and St Mark's Church of England in Bournemouth.

Those at the bottom end of the tables include Branksome Heath Middle School in Poole, Bovington Middle School in Wareham and Winton Primary in Bournemouth.

We're working on putting the full tables together - so come back this afternoon to see how your school fares.
