A FORMER Bournemouth University screenwriting graduate is working on a gritty new psychological thriller movie starring Danny Dyer.

Mum-of-two Lucy V Hay, 30, of Winton, is associate producer of low budget film Deviation.

It stars Dyer as escaped convict Frankie who kidnaps young nurse Amber, played by Hellboy II actress Anna Walton, and takes her on a terrifying ride through London.

Shooting has just started and the film is hoped to hit cinema screens next year.

It is the biggest project so far for Lucy, who has ambitions to write her own film and currently reads scripts from would-be screenwriters.

She said: “Even as a child I was writing stories and putting on plays. I was one of five children and used to organise them into doing plays.”

Deviation is a welcome departure from films where the woman plays the victim, who has to be rescued by the man, added Lucy.

She said: “It is similar to something like Collateral, Red Eye or Panic Room. We are not talking the classic woman in peril thriller. The woman is not a victim.

“These are very real characters. That’s what drew me to the project.”

The film’s stars Danny Dyer and Anna Walton are also “fantastic” to work with, she added.

Lucy has ambitions to write something in the style of Alien or Jodie Foster films.

“Alien I absolutely adore and the character of Ripley. Jodie Foster does fantastic films.”

“I get a lot of very bad scripts where the female has got to be rescued by the man.”

Film is still “very much a guy’s medium” she added.
