TWO men were seriously injured when their light aircraft came down in the grounds of a private residential property near the New Forest on Thursday afternoon.
The accident happened just before 2.15pm in Woodlands Road, Woodlands, near Totton. Ambulance, fire and police officers all attended.
One fire engine from Totton, one from Lyndhurst and the special equipment unit from St Mary’s Community Fire Station went to the scene with nine firefighters and support staff.
The firefighters managed to extricate the men from the aircraft before handing them over to paramedics.
They were then taken to Southampton General Hospital by road ambulance.
The two men are in their sixties. One was said to have serious fractures, while the other had worse injuries. The road was temporarily closed to traffic and an air accident investigation has been launched.
