Red Arrows grounded over ejector seat fears

Red Arrows grounded over ejector seat fears Red Arrows grounded over ejector seat fears

ALL RAF Hawk aircraft – the model used by the Red Arrows – have been grounded due to safety fears.

The training planes were stopped from flying when engineers detected a fault with the ejector seat on one of the craft during an inspection at RAF Valley on Anglesey in Wales.

Hawks at three other stations have also been grounded and will not be permitted to fly until each plane has been inspected.

The Red Arrows are due to fly at Cowes on Friday, Swanage Carnival this weekend and at Bournemouth Air Festival, which takes place between August 19 and 22.

It is not known how long the inspection will take or how it will impact on the team's schedule.

More follows.

Come on Bournemouth Echo, this is old news, first reported by the BBC on 27th July, and the first of the inspected Hawks are back flying already!

Buying the Bournemouth Echo 20 years ago was worth it. Now they charge £0.40 pence. For the content of the news and job's is not worth the money as much of the news is old news before it comes into the echo. Then the local news not worth reading. Pathetic news stories about Council deviants or worthless uninteresting stories about Bournemouth Council and the wasted millions on pathetic projects just to wind up the public even more. Never any real job's in the Echo anyway!!

Don't buy it then!

I dont, but that does not detract from a well established media source such as the Daily Echo ensuring that the news it publishes is up to date, and not a week old when it reaches us.

I stopped buying the paper, not because I review it online, but I refuse to pay for a paper that is full of advertising, with barely a few pages of news, which taken up with National and International News, with very little on local issues. At least reviewing it online, I make my own choice.
#
Sorry Echo, you asked on enough surveys, it is time the truth was known.
#
Incidentally, there is certainly nothing in the Red Arrows website news of this story, and all displays are as planned, and remain so.

Hi there everyone, your pesky neighbourhood web watcher here.

MadfromDorset, I'd have to take issue with you over the content of today's paper, which has one single column of national and international news among 20 pages of local stories. Perhaps you should buy a copy, you might be surprised...

We're also sorry if you all knew the Hawks had been grounded - we weren't aware of it until last night and so we assumed there'd be lots of our readers who hadn't either.

We're keeping our fingers crossed, of course, that the inspections will show everything to be okay and the Red Arrows will indeed be soaring over Swanage on Saturday - and incidentally, there'll be a page of pictures from the carnival in Monday's paper, so do make sure you get a copy ;)

This story concerning the grounding of the red arrows was in fact in the daily mail and daily star last week, if the Bournemouth Echo did not know about this i think that your researchers are not doing their job, espicially with the imminent return of the Bournemouth air festival.

Nothing on the Official Red Arrows website denoting any grounding.
I'm pretty sure the 'Reds' would get priority over other Hawk aircraft/sqns.
They are comming to Bournemouth @ 3.30 Thursday according to thier :

Even if they don't make it, it won't be the end of the world with all the other displays! The Blades are all ex Arrows pilots anyway, and the Typhoon's awesome roar will make the hairs on the back of your neck stand up... And many more besides will more than make up for the nine's absence!

If the Reds show, they show, if they don't they don't. I'm hoping they will make it obviously, but i'm not going to get too worked up about it if they don't....

Ooh, ooh, important news. McVICAR has received a stock-reply email from the RAF. Wow, he must be very important to receive such a message: really in the know, I'll bet. And what does the email say? Erm, nothing that we didn't know already. But McVICAR just wanted to show that he'd received the message to show everyone how big and clever he is.
