DETECTIVES are hunting sex attackers after a teenager was subjected to a “nasty and unprovoked” late-night assault in Bournemouth.
During the alleged incident two men – also thought to be teenagers – lured an 18-year-old woman into bushes near the crazy golf course in the gardens before seriously sexually assaulting her between 11pm and midnight on Saturday.
Detective Constable Nick Hodge, of Bournemouth and Poole Public Protection Unit, said: “Prior to the assault the victim was in Bournemouth Gardens, looking for her mobile phone.
“The victim is reported to have been lured into bushes by two men who claimed to know where her phone was and could help her get it back. They are then reported to have sexually assaulted her.
“I am keen to hear from anyone who saw or heard any suspicious activity around the crazy golf facility between 11pm and midnight on Saturday, July 24, 2010.
“This was a nasty and unprovoked attack and I’d urge anyone who has any information about this incident to call police immediately.
“While this type of incident is extremely rare, I would urge people to take care when they are out and about at night, and, where possible, to avoid walking around alone.”
The alleged attackers are described as being white and aged between 16 and 18. One of the men was wearing a grey top at the time.
Anyone with information should call Dorset Police in confidence on 01202 222222 or the free and anonymous Crimestoppers line on 0800 555 111.
An 18-year-old Bournemouth man has been arrested and released on bail.
