Public remembrance services to be held for Case family

GRIEVING friends and relatives of the tragic Case family who were found dead at their home in Fordingbridge will be able to attend public remembrance services on Monday evening.

The services will take place in St Mary's Church, Fordingbridge, only a few hundred yards from the family's home in Provost Street, and at St Aldhelm's Church in Sandleheath, where Vicki Case ran a nursery school.

Beginning at 7pm, the services will provide an opportunity to help residents come to terms with what happened at the Case home.

It is thought that 33-year-old Andrew Case killed his 31-year-old wife and children Phoebe, aged two, and 18-month-old Nereya before he hanged himself.

Their bodies were found by Mrs Case's distraught mother Linda Haskell on Monday morning.

Post mortems showed Mrs Case had been stabbed to death while her husband had hanged. But autopsy results on the children were inconclusive.

Police have taken potential weapons, thought to be knives, for forensic examination.

Paperwork too has been removed to be studied by police in an attempt to discover what lead to the tragedy.

Speaking for the Avon Valley churches partnership, Rev Tracy Robinson said: "This tragedy has touched many people in our community.

"The family was well known in the area, especially Vicki through her work at St Aldhelm's Nursery in Sandleheath.

"Both children, Phoebe and Nereya, were baptised at St Aldhelm's Church in Sandleheath and the family supported the church in many different ways.

"The community now needs some space to come to terms with the situation and hope they will be allowed to do this.

"There will be simultaneous Acts of Remembrance including readings, prayers, and an opportunity to light a candle in memory of the whole family at St Mary's Church, Fordingbridge, and St Aldhelm's Church, Sandleheath on Monday, August 2 at 7pm.

"All are welcome to attend."
