RESIDENTS have objected to plans from developer Dave Wells for affordable homes in their area.
Outline planning permission has already been granted for the 12 flats in Norwich Avenue West, Bournemouth, but Mr Wells needs permission for details of the scheme.
A string of objections from neighbours cite traffic worries and concerns about rubbish left outdoors by tenants of existing Dave Wells properties nearby.
One resident wrote that the area had become “one of the shabbiest and most insalubrious areas of Bournemouth”.
Mr Wells said it was easy to jump to the conclusion that his tenants were responsible for problems in the road. “The reality is, of the thousands of tenants living in our properties, the vast majority are decent people striving to play a strong role in their communities,” he said.
The company had a full-time antisocial behaviour officer who dealt with any problems swiftly, he said.
“On the rare occasions that complaints of littering or graffiti are received, our maintenance team is dispatched immediately,” he added.
He said the application was very similar to the design already approved.
Planning officers have until July 25 to make a recommendation about the plans, which are likely to go before the council’s planning board.
