FINAL preparations are being made for this Sunday’s Magna Mazda British Pedal Car Grand Prix.

Some 54 teams, including the Ringwood Brewery Boondogglers, the Desperate Housewives, and the Daily Echo-backed Royce UK squad will line up on the Market Place grid at 2pm.

Race Director Jim Stride said a podium, PA system, and additional parking would all be in place on Sunday, when an estimated 10,000 people will roll into Ringwood for the pedal powered spectacle.

Race-goers can park at the Bickerley – where the Ringwood Carnival is held – for just £1 between midday and 6pm.

Some 4,000 programmes hit the streets of Ringwood on Wednesday and are available for a donation to charities supported by the race from shops displaying the grand prix poster.

A pedal car beauty pageant – the concourse d’elegance – will be held in the Market Place at 9am on Saturday offering an opportunity for spectators to get close to the racing machinery.

New Forest West MP Desmond Swayne will flag the race underway, with veteran commentator, Michael Lingam-Willgoss, who has called every race since 1987.
