A NEW sex establishment policy for Bournemouth seeks to restrict the numbers and locations of sex shops and lap dancing clubs.
The draft policy states that an area of Holdenhurst Road, from the junction with Northcote Road to the Richmond Park Road junction, should contain no more than two sex shops. The Triangle is considered an appropriate location for just one shop and that should be a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lifestyle shop. And the town centre is deemed appropriate for a maximum of three sexual entertainment venues.
The draft document has been considered and amended by the council’s licensing board and will need final approval from the chair and vice chair of licensing.
It will then go out to public consultation, when residents will be invited to make comments.

A new sex establishment policy?
Whatever next?
Don't let Councillor MacLaughlin get involved with this policy though ok!
If he had his way there would likely be sex shops and clubs all over the town with free entry for corrupt ConDems!
Stick to your sticky Council laptop sir. Now you've quit the top job you'll have plenty of time for a FIDDLE!
i think it is a good idea as long as we have palm trees outside

Absolutely, but we must pay top dollar for the trees from a firm that has connections to a councilor.

Do people realise that in London the new nickname for Bournemouth is 'POR NMUFF'! Thats what our town has become, what with MacLoughlin and the many lap dancing venues here!
Was amused by the tree comments! Genius!

What bygone era are we living in?? Shops stand empty everywhere yet sex shops are restricted in number and location. And they're charged extra for licenses which only gets passed back to the local consumer.
.
The fact that they are restricted to 'certain areas' means those areas then become stigmatised with the label. It's about time people stopped pretending sex doesn't happen for normal folk!

'The Triangle is considered an appropriate location for just one shop and that should be a lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender lifestyle shop' I wonder if it is against the law for them to create a policy saying this? Is 'chez lamour' still open there as i remember it being there over 20 years ago.

so who exactly considers what is or isnt appropriate ? some jumped up council official .who has been consulted ? i dont remember any 'invite to comment' all this stuff is done behind closed doors as if by right ..... well i may not use any of these facilities but i cant help wondering just who gave the authority for anyone to restrict other peoples freedom of choice in what establishments they wish to visit after all even if you look you wont see anything - there is a market and a demand for everything ,sex isnt sleazy ..... at some point the majority of us are active in it during our lifetimes ,some of us are neither shy nor hung up about it and most of us i suspect would not seek to close these places or restrict them ... why should we ? if you have never visited one you cant comment and if you have you must have been a customer - whats the big deal .leave these businesses alone for goodness sake.

Customers from sex shops don't cause trouble in Bournemouth, it's the p****d up idiots from all the night clubs that do. If people don't like sex shops, then don't go in them, simple as that really. I really love the security word "good-jump" I wonder who makes these up? lol
