THE manager of a Bournemouth pole-dancing club has called for Richard Carr's new Wiggle restaurant to be closed down.

Adrian Blanke, who runs For Your Eyes Only in nearby Old Christchurch Road, says he was left fuming when the Future 3000 chairman claimed his premises were operating under the same planning conditions.

"That's absolutely ridiculous," he said. "Richard Carr has A3 planning permission for restaurant use while we have also got D2 usage, entitling us to stage table dancing and hosting.

"Getting this special planning permission in Southampton has cost us £46,000.

"For A3 usage the majority of the floor space should be used for a restaurant but that's not happening at Wiggle," he claimed. "It is clearly a table dancing club."

Mr Blanke also claimed Mr Carr has poached some of his dancers and girls from Spearmint Rhino.

"It's very annoying because we knew what was going on even before the club opened last weekend," he said.

There have now been calls for enforcement action after the Daily Echo revealed how pole dancing and performances in private rooms are on offer at Wiggle.

Bournemouth council confirmed that both For Your Eyes Only and Spearmint Rhino have planning permission for "supplementary entertainment" while Wiggle has planning permission for restaurant use.

It has launched an investigation "as a high priority".

Spokeswoman Michelle Henry said: "Should we find breaches of planning conditions we will take all necessary action to rectify these."

But Richard Carr, who initially reassured residents there would be "no live dancing of any description" at Wiggle and later said it would be "Bournemouth's version of the Moulin Rouge," insisted the council was wrong.

"A3 planning permission allows entertainment as a supplementary use our main function is as a restaurant.

"People don't understand what I'm saying and this issue is being clouded. I don't wish to discuss it any further."
